Setting My 2018 Q2 Blog Goals!

Why, hello there my favourite internet-consumers; I hope life’s treating you well. Today, we’re going to be setting some goals. Hey, bumbling along aimlessly for the first two months of the year is fine if you pick yourself up again! Someone agree with me please…

I don’t know if any of you remember my post on hitting 1,000 followers . . . well, it feels like no time at all has passed since I was celebrating that milestone and now we’re super close to 2,000 followers! How insane is that?

By the way, I haven’t forgotten about the giveaway; I’ve just been insanely busy the past few months. That said, I have been collecting a few things and I’m thinking after March’s payday I’ll buy the last few items and run the giveaway in early April. It would be a pretty cool way to celebrate Spring, right? What am I even saying, free shit is cool at any time of the year.

Moving onto today, though. I don’t know if you guys have realised, but the last few months I’ve been somewhat aimless in my blog content. Again, this is literally just because my off-screen life has been demanding attention.

Real life is so inconvenient. Jesus, mum, couldn’t you have birthed me into the Matrix?

Yep, fine, I know what you’re thinking – and I was going to write in a “who says she didn’t?” comment after that, I really was. But, look guys, I just really don’t have the fucking time for an existential crisis to derail my goal-setting post.

Anyways, while the blog has still been growing and I’ve still been enjoying creating content, I haven’t been working towards anything. I haven’t been tracking goals, or making plans and . . . well, kids, you know that I’m a Grade A evil plotter. I feel somewhat aimless without my schemes, you know?

So I sat my ass down and set some goals. Let’s do this.

The format I used for tracking the first six months of my blogย  – setting goals for three months; tracking those and re-setting them three months later – worked really well for me, so I’ve recreated it here. And it’s rather convenient too as I’m starting to track these in April, which will be the second quarter of the year (an entirely terrifying concept, right?).

If you’re thinking “gosh, Mia, you’re so lazy – putting it off until April is total procrastination” I see your criticism and I raise you an “I’m starting a new job, continuing my current job and aiming to keep creating posts once every two days“.

Look at my March calendar, guys; your girl is going to be busy. So while I’m still going to be active, I think being active is going to be enough of a challenge without trying to get all fancy with it.

Anyways, onto the actual goals.

The biggest changes I’m making in the next quarter is the focus on social media. Previously, I’ve just kind of left my socials to do their own thing . . . mainly because I hate them. Aside from Pinterest, which doesn’t really count, I’m not a social media person. Well, now’s the time to sell my morals!

However, if you do remember my initial goals, I do want to continue focusing on SEO. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is where I’d ideally like most of my views to come from, so I’ve set myself some new SEO goals to increase my rankings. Mainly, I need to start keyword researching, actually analysing my Search Console and producing some SEO content (ie . . . not this.).

For each month, I have individual stats goals that I’d like to hit. I didn’t make these too unachievable (hopefully not, anyway), but they show a steady growth rate. It’s kind of crazy to think that these kind of stats are genuinely possible for my little blog – I’ve only had it since last July.

My last goals are content related as I’m always trying to make better content for all you brilliant humans to enjoy!

One of my massive aims is to actually do some collabs! I’ve got one planned with Priya (sorry for taking so long on that, lovely girl, I’m waiting for the weather this side of the world to stop fucking snowing so I can get the OOTDs) and I’d love to do some more. And, in case that was too subtle, hit me up if you’d like to do a collab post.

Okay, so now that we’ve gotten to the end of this post . . . I’ve got to admit that I have no idea what the point of it even was. How do I end it? With an “I hope you found this useful”? How could you have found this useful? I hope you somewhat enjoyed it? Maybe you liked the bullet journal spread? Maybe you were inspired to set some of your own blog goals? Let me know your thoughts down below. And put me out of my misery

Peace,

  1. You’re so right, real life is truly inconvenient. Like, at least 80% of the time ๐Ÿ˜‚ I absolutely adore your bullet journal spread(s)!! Do you mind if I make something similar to mine? It was just so pretty!

  2. What if I told you…. that your schools lied to you from the start?
The out of bounds rule was the beginning of a game of brinksmanship that fiscally imprisons people in an illusion where their guitar gods are in fact TONE DEAF

      1. Of course it is a virtual reality world….. how else could someone be so cool. You not me… I still can’t get my DVD player to release Trainspotting. Thank goodness I am not related to Ewan McGregor

      1. He was the ferry man over the river styx (for Pluto…. Persephone spends most of the year in Hades… etc…)
The films are full of all sorts of symbolism to go with the computer science and engineering model. Had he have taken the scaffold down in the first few scenes… an entirely different story ๐ŸฆŠ

Congrats on 2K! You have been working so hard and I see the constant improvements to your blog! You deserve it! Iโ€™m so excited for all the content you have planned. Youโ€™re so creative and your writing and photo style are unlike other blogs. This isnโ€™t your first go at a blog so Iโ€™m sure with your consistency and planning youโ€™ll be cashing out in no time. Go, Mia! Go, Mia!

  5. Your bullet journal is looking so good! I’m still out of routine with my bullet journal but I’ll see if I feel the need to jump-start it or not since it can be quite time-consuming (at least for me).

    Congratulations on reaching 2k!

    1. Thank you girly! And oh god I definitely agree with you on that one. To be honest, I think it’s worth the time for me because I get so many blog posts out of it and it’s an easy place for me to store notes and appointments (which I 100% will otherwise forget), but if I didn’t post about it so much the time investment might not be worth it. And I’m not at 2k yet but hopefully soon ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

  6. MIA HOOOOOOOOOW ARE YOU SO ORGANISED? My motto has always been: just go with the flow. That being said, I too would like to focus a lot more on my blog’s social media this year, mainly Instagram. This post insanely motivating, please do more of this in the future!
Ps. Are we still on for that creative project I hit you up about a while ago? Let me know xx

    1. I’ve actually started writing a post about how I organise my time etc because so many people have asked … essentially, out of necessity – my life is painfully busy atm so if I weren’t organised literally NOTHING would get done! And good luck with that lovely (I love your feed btw!) And yes I definitely will do some posts like these in the future ๐Ÿ˜€ I’ll be honest, I completely forgot (sorry – again, just insanely busy) but HELL YES! I’ve got some free time back now I’m not doing my portfolio or anything so definitely xxx

  7. Wait, what did you say? I was to busy drooling all over your bullet journals (again!) and if I didn’t say this before your flipping handwriting is gorgeous! Seriously girl! Journaling goals!
Also congrats on almost reaching 2,000 woot! AND girl you are already killing the blogging game! So proud of you! โค

  8. So I have been just stressing over the last few days about this entire deal of SEO and meta titles, you know, all that jazz. Why on earth does this have to be so complex? It is like talking in lingo that won’t penetrate my thick skull. The last entry in your journal is something I cannot wait for at my own end! Life has been a bit static of late. Btw loving the sprigs of dried flowers. xx

    1. Thank you lovely, I’m glad you liked ๐Ÿ™‚ and oh gosh don’t even start me – what is domain authority and why must i care about it? SEO is such a damn pain! I hope you’re not struggling with it too much though ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

      1. I did, for a week straight, and now I just could not care less. Though I am experimenting with what I have learnt, to see if it makes any difference. I have my doubts though :-/ xx

  9. Woow๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I really need to get on with the programme. I love the fact that you have mapped out a lot and actually tracking your progress and not just focusing on churning out content. Lol I need to get on this level of commitment. Please teach me your ways!! ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿค“(I’m definitely taking notes, there is always room for improvement)

  10. I hope you reach all the goals you’ve set for yourself/your blog! Almost 2k followers is incredible (: I’m trying to stay on the “every Tuesday and Friday” posting schedule I randomly started in January haha but if I have to differ from that, I won’t be upset

  11. This looks so incredible and motivating! I’ve only just started really focusing on my goal spreads in my bujo (I know, I’m terrible), but it’s definitely made all the different already! SEO is also something I should work on wrapping my head around, it seems so daunting and complicated. And collabs!! I’m the exact same, and I’m also very excited for ours too! xx

  12. These are great goals. I also have created an extensive calendar of achievements and tasks I intend on completing each day, week and month. The most important, however, is keeping the process of blogging a fun one. The minute I start to obsess over it, is the minute I start to bog myself down with doubt through comparison and whatever else have you. Keep up the consistent and quality work and all will come full circle for you!

  13. Hi there, I also create extensive goals lists for my blog each day, week and month. I think it’s important to aim for goals and stats and see your growth throughout the process. It’s also important to keep it fun, because anything that feels like erroneous work is, well, a bummer. Keep up the good work and consistency and your goals will come full circle for you.
