A Simple Smart-Casual OOTD ft. AbsolutelyOlivia

by Mia M.

Hello, my dear sweet beautiful babies. If you’re unlucky and you work a full 5 day week . . . first of all, I am very sorry, but second: you’re probably back to work today. So I’m even more sorry.

In the spirit of the working week, the first post to kick off my collab-month is with the wonderful AbsolutelyOlivia and it’s dedicated to finding you an outfit for work that’s smart, but still cute. (So the kind of outfit that I don’t actually wear to work, because your girl is lazy when it comes to looking good for work. And by lazy I mean fundamentally against the prospect.)

In winter, I confess to not caring about how I look . . . well, pretty much at all. Winter fashion bores me, winter weather drives me to hibernate in my room all the time and I’m too pale to be flattering anyway. Caring just really sets myself up for disappointment, you know?

However . . . it is now Spring. We are now in the season of positivity and rebirth and my desire to look like a presentable human being has been rekindled. So I’m going to at least pretend to care. That’s all you can really ask, right?

We each created an smart-casual look, perfect for the office and drinks after work; this is my one and you can take a look at Olivia’s here.

I decided to go with something super comfy and causal; a loose blazer that I’d really prefer to be fitted, a white top and the coolest lace-up faux leather trousers ever, a la River Island. The leather adds a touch of I’m-not-a-sad-corporate-sell-out, which I think is nice and let’s me pair it up with some cool silver jewellery relatively well.

Plus, this entire outfit is made up of basics – so not only can you wear pretty much everything again (aside from the unflattering blazer; can we leave oversized blazers behind in school please?), you’ve probably got something similar in your wardrobe already.

In case you haven’t heard of Olivia, she’s a brilliantly talented blogger – at an insanely young age! – and she is killing the style and social media game. I haven’t got my shit that together and I’m 20 in December! (Dear God, that is an entirely terrifying concept . . . break out the anti-wrinkle cream.)

I highly recommend giving her a follow – you won’t regret it.

Yes, I did pose in entirely un-flattering head positions for all my outfit photos. I’m not a model, sue me.

I personally love the choker I’m wearing; I bought it from Topshop last year and it’s so rock’n’roll, but super pretty too.

Okay, so that’s pretty much this post done. I hope those of you that are back at work aren’t hating your lives too much – I join you in the gallows tomorrow, don’t worry! Make sure you check out Olivia’s post – her style is awesome and I’m super excited to steal- I mean, check it out.

In case you missed my “What’s Coming Up In Spring!” post, this is the first of an entire month of collab posts! (Exciting stuff, right?) Make sure you’re checking in regularly to discover some awesome new content creators – and some awesome new content. Did you guys like my outfit? What was your favourite part? What’s your go-to business casual outfit? Are you on the fancier side or do you like your casual wear too much to cheat? Let me know your thoughts down below!

Peace,
