A Bronze and Glowy Summer Makeup Tutorial? From ME? Uh, What?

by Mia M.

Hello, beautiful people – before we even get into the makeup tutorial (yep, just go with it), I’m going to answer the big question you didn’t even know you had.

Where is this dress from? Well, my friends, you are looking at a beautiful creation from the British brand Hope and Ivy, who are ironically named because just as I had hope for my bank account I found them. Okay moving onto the topic of the post:

What. Is. Going. The. Fuck. On?

Is this real? Am I . . . Am I doing a makeup tutorial?

Guys, I don’t know how – or, to be honest, why we got here, but I think I’m sharing a makeup tutorial with you. Are you ready? Okay, babies hold on to your seats . . . Let’s do this!

If you’re familiar round these parts, you will already know that I am no makeup expert. In fact, I am a minus expert. Aside from my eyeliner and brows, I’m not great at much about makeup and most of the time I can’t be bothered to experiment because it goes terribly and means I then need to waste time re-doing my makeup. I mean, we all remember the mess that was my attempted fairy makeup look.

And if you don’t, I’ll embarass myself with a photo. Here you go.

However, I do have a few go to tricks (and by that I mean eyeshadow and a somewhat nude lip) that I go to when I want to look nice (which is always when I’m not at work. I like to look nice, sue me) – and today I thought . . . well, why not share what my go-to summer makeup is?

(And before you ask, yes it is pretty much the same as the fairy look, minus the pink eyeliner and plus the orange eyeshadow.)

That’s the look we’re going to be creating!

The palette I used was literally £4 and you can pick it up from Superdrug or get it delivered straight to your house because who really wants to go hunting around a packed Superdrug store only to find your product sold out anyway?

MUA Vixen Eyeshadow Palette – £4

Now, you will have to bear with the fact that this “tutorial” bit will be literal trash. Because I really don’t know what you thought you were getting from this post, to be honest.

Step 1

Grab your naked eyelid and cover it with this probably not base colour appropriate shade. It has glitter, hence why I was drawn to it.

Step 2

Do your eye corners or whatever in this slightly darker glitter colour. Can you sense a trend?

Now is probably where I should apologise for the photos, but let’s face it – not even I thought I was ever going to upload this as a tutorial. I just shockingly got up on time and had loads of spare time before needing to leave and so thought “well, it might turn out alright so why not take some photos?”.

I know, I know – nothing but the best quality content for you guys, right?

Step 3

Step 3 is what I like to just call orange. I love orange; actually, I love pretty much any warmer toned colour.

I just kind of sweep orange along the top and hope for the best.

Step 4

Brush pink in a thin line along your undereye. Simples.

Step 5

Eyeliner, duh!

Step 6

Mascara, foundation and blush! Normally, I would skip on the foundation (your girl is quite literally always looking to get a tan) but my skin basically died last month and, while it is recovering very well . . . it is still in recovery mode. Coverage is a yes please.

Did I take photos of the finished look? No, not of the makeup especially. I’m awful at selfies, I don’t really have any and the full photos I took were more meant to be OOTD. And even they all failed because the camera wasn’t zoomed out enough . . . so here we are. Left with a subpar makeup tutorial. This is the content you signed up for.

I also have a Snapchat selfie from like 8 hours later to offer you?

As you can tell, I am a. British and b. talking to one of my friends. And no, this photo isn’t relevant to anything about this post, but I think it’s my favourite photo of 2018 and I wanted to share it.

Guys, this is one of those times where I have no idea what to sign off with. I hope this was helpful? How could it be? We’ll go with I hope you were mildly entertained. Did you like this look? Would you try it? And what do you think about le dress? Let me know your thoughts down below!

Peace,
