A (Failed) Spring Fairy-Inspired Makeup Look ft. Mademoiselle O’Lantern!

Before we get into the mess that is this post, I would just like to say one thing in my defence: there’s a reason the “beauty” section of my blog is practically skeletal.

Hello, friends. I feel almost bad for bringing you this post, but at the same time . . . you read my content to feel better about your life. To entertain you, to bring you a small semblance of light in this dark world where we can’t even see the beauty that is Jason Statham trending without thinking “oh shit, is he dead? … Or worse, a pervert?”.

So what I’m bringing you today? It’s entertainment. It’s like my How Not To Bake A Gingerbread House post . . . just worse.

Let’s do this.

I’m sure a lot of you are familiar with Joy from Mademoiselle O’Lantern. She’s awesome – and her blog is all kinds of goals. Especially its design . . . I want to steal it. (I won’t because morals and all that inconvenient stuff, but the temptation is definitely there.)

Now, while it sounds like we should like Joy, we don’t. Why don’t we? Because she shared this.

This super cute, super easy festival look. (Post is linked to the image; go and check it out!) And this look? Well, it got me overexcited and I thought – oh, I’d love to try a makeup look.

Enter failure.

So today’s post is number 4 in my collaboration month – and is a collab with Joy! We decided to create two Spring Fairy looks – hers being a night fairy and mine being a daytime one. Go and take a look at her post for a look you’d actually like to recreate, continue reading this one to feel better about your own makeup skills. Let’s do this.

And, yes, I’m a British flower fairy – so I’m drinking tea. Sue me.

For this look, I *tried* to create petals on the side of my face and it failed, so I accessorised instead.

Now, if you remember my giveaway from literally yesterday, you will remember that I had this beautiful eyeshadow palette up for grabs!

This is actually the palette I used to create this spring look! Aside from the massive shitty flower on my face, I actually like this look to wear out. I actually did just that – and eventually you guys will discover the lengths I went to just to be that level of lazy. Hint: it involves a video in a bathtub.

I’m a great role model, what are you talking about?

So that’s really it; I thought it would be fun to try and create a Spring make-up look, completely overlooked my own abysmal makeup skills and was left with . . . well, whatever this post was.

That said, I love flower fairies. I’m a British girl – I used to go caravanning with my grandad and cousin across the British countryside and France, so I really love flowers and fields and woods.

When I was younger, I used to have an anthology book of flower fairies and the illustrations were so beautiful that they were actually one of the first things that inspired me to start drawing! I mean, sure, I gave it up again when I was like 16 . . . but I loved it once.

I’d actually quite like to get a fairy tattoo one day. We shall see!

Okay, kiddiwinks, that really seems like all I can say about this look other than maybe “don’t bother trying it at home”. Don’t forget to go and take a look at Joy’s post over on her blog – I can 100% guarantee it’s going to be way better.

In case you missed my β€œWhat’s Coming Up In Spring!” post, this is the first of an entire month of collab posts! (Exciting stuff, right?) Make sure you’re checking in regularly to discover some awesome new content creators – and some awesome new content. Remember, if you want to get involved, feel free to leave a comment or shoot me an email at: crystalsandcurls@mail.com.

Also, don’t forget to check out my 2,000 follower blog giveaway! It’s international, I have awesome things up for grabs – and you can enter all the way until April 30th.

Without further ado . . . let’s end this post. Did you guys like this look? Sans-weird-petal-thing would you rock it? Let me know your thoughts down below!

  1. I think you both did a great job, both looks work and look beautiful. I think you should brighten up the flower on side, maybe use a bit brighter color and add some glitter or shimmer to make it pop even more.I think it will tie the look beautifully. xx

      1. I mean you of course look stunning as always, girl! I CRACKED UP laughing – your writing style here is hilarious! Oh my god reading all of these other comments I feel bad about mine now. The makeup isn’t necessarily something I would leave the house in but you know, it fits the theme! πŸ˜‰ What happens on WordPress stays on WordPress πŸ˜‚ xx

      2. no no, i got what you meant dont worry! πŸ˜‰ I just … you summed up my mental narrative during this whole thing LOL – and honestly thank god for that xx

  2. This reminds me of the time I celebrated my birthday on the theme “flower power”. Well my flowers were more or less like yours and I considered them awesome, so stop beating up yourself! You look fab! And OF COURSE a fairy should drink tea!!

  3. Hey there!! I really liked the petal-accent under your eye! I don’t think I could rock it, though πŸ˜‚! What collabs are you doing? I would love to get involved if I like it!! Do let me know!!

    1. Ahaha girl I don’t think I was rocking it either…definitely an in-the-house-only look xD and at the moment I’ve got em written up til the 25th, but if you want to colllab I have some free spots after then πŸ™‚ xx

      1. But I personally think you did look good! Ok then, after 25th it is! I am totally ready to collaborate with you after the 25 th!! But can you guide me with how it goes, β€˜cause it’s my first time collaborating!!!! πŸ˜… I hope you do!! ❀️

  4. I kept reading hoping Jason Statham was going to reappear in the next paragraph…. I think someone is pulling a replica on me again πŸ€ πŸ˜„

  5. Most people “My makeuping skills are terrible”
And then theirs me, trying to figure out how exactly I’m suppose to use concealer.
But this post was so stinking cute!

    1. Ahaha, I literally only use concealer under my brows and mine ran out a few months ago anyway… ;-; It’s fine, it’s all face paint anyway – you can do whatever you like with it all πŸ˜‰ xx

  6. This look is so adorable… fail is not the word I would use to describe this look. I really love the petal on your face, the lines look really clean.

  7. I really like it. I almost want to say angelic with the flowers and the fact that everything ties together with the white wardrobe. 😊 and the soft peachy tones in your makeup really flatter your skin tone. πŸ˜€

  8. GURL what are you talking about?? This looks amazing! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ No seriously, I actually love it. I definitely won’t rock the side petals but I’m in love with the lip colour and brows.
