Arts and crafts aren’t just for kids! If you’re looking for a creative new hobby, make sure you have a read of these 10 fun crafts for adults. Affiliate links in post.

Hello, friends, and welcome back to my corner of the web! The theme of today: being an adult is hard. You know that you’re meant to be a responsible creature able to manage your mental health, day to day responsibilities and somehow be having fun at the same time . . .

But how do you actually do it?

(I don’t have an answer for you, by the way. I’m stuck too!)

Pin me, pin me!

You may think that crafts for adults is a bizarre place to start, but hear me out. The world is so busy and we’re all so hyper-aware of everything that we never actually get a break.

Our phones are constantly clamouring for attention. Our day jobs are dreadfully dull – and yet nobody earns quite enough from them, so we’re all busy bees working our side hustles too. We’re all hyper-aware of everyone else’s perceived success, sure. But I think it’s more the fact that we know we could be hit by a recession or pandemic or whatever the hell else at any given point so it’s best to work now and set yourself up for later.

In conclusion, capitalism sucks and I hate it here.

But back to crafts. How does whipping up a DIY project solve any of these issues? Well, it doesn’t. But it’s satisfying, it’s grounding and – the real winner – it’s an off-screen hobby.

Not to mention, the tons of mental health benefits crafts for adults have. From reducing depression and anxiety to decreasing your risk of cognitive impairment as you age, crafting is the perfect time out exercise. So without further ado, let’s get into my top 10 crafts for adults!

1. Candle making

The top spot on this list has to be candle-making for two reasons: it’s easy and it’s practical. Candles make fabulous gifts, as well as generally being fun to use around the house. Plus, they’re super cheap to make too!

3. Punch needle embroidery (for beginners!)

Love the look of embroidery . . . but not the required attention to detail? That’s fair! I love how intricate embroidery is, but I definitely don’t have the patience for it myself. Punch needle is a fabulous (and easier) alternative, perfect for making tapestries and rugs.

Sewing is a brilliantly practical craft for adults to take up – and once you learn, the world opens up. Oh, you like that expensive cushion? DIY it! That dress you love is a little too loose? Take it in!

Soap-making is the perfect calming craft for adults because . . . well, once you’ve made your soap, you can sink into a warm shower and enjoy it! My video above shows you how to make fragrant bath bombs and bath salts.
