My Dream Bedroom

Oh, interior decoration, how much I love thee. How I cannot wait to have my own small apartment to decorate and paint and fill with plants and trinkets; how I sit there and wistfully gaze at furniture that my room cannot hold.

Hi guys!

In case you somehow missed both the title and the nonsense that was my opening paragraph, today’s post is about bedrooms. More accurately about my dream bedroom and all the elements it would have in a perfect world where money and space and lack of natural lighting were not an issue. And, yes, in this dream world Matt Bomer would also be straight and we’d be married.

I’m actually in the midst of redecorating my room (it’s sad how excited I am about that, but that same phrase applies to pretty much my entire life, so I’m not beating myself up too much), so I thought this would be pretty timely.

Okay, so my dream room has a few things:

  • Plants

love plants. I always have; one big part of living in a house with my grandma for most of my life is that we always have flowers around. One thing that I’m avidly looking forwards to is having my own garden to potter around decorating.

Also, y’know, fairies.

  • An Office Space

Okay, so I love offices. I really do. When I eventually own my own place, (although, what with living in London, this may take me a while. You know – maybe in my next lifetime.) I’m going to have an office and an office space in my bedroom. And, hey, if I’m co-habituating by this point I’ll also have a little office space in the living room too.

I’m obsessed with all the cute boards and decorations that office spaces boast – desk spaces are my weak spot. Some girls like flowers and chocolate – but I’m demanding AF and, while I want flowers and chocolate, I would also like a little desk space.

With boards . . . lots of boards.

  • Tapestries & Wall Decorations

Ugh, I love the look of really cute and cluttered room decorations. It’s so cosy to me! Half of my family is really bohemian and spiritual (they’re artists) so I’ve always loved really creative and personal spaces.

  • Alternative, Cute Bedding

Dear Urban Outfitters . . . I hate you. Passionately. Yes, you heard me – passionately. Look at these things.

Urban Outfitters Cushions (although they’re painfully expensive, so why click that link and torture yourself?)

Are these practical? Easy to wash and keep clean? Do you think that they’d even be particularly comfortable?

Do any of these things matter? Do they stop me from really wanting them?

No, of course they bloody don’t.

I love really unique and interesting bedding – and the cosier the better.

I must admit, my dream house would also have a bunk bed. Although, as I’m pretty odd, I’d really prefere to have a bunk-bed living room sofa thing – like this:

  • Den-like Clutter

I have two opposing loves – open space and clutter. Fortunately for me, half of my room is on a stage (sounds weird, I know, but I’ll show you when I do a room tour post) so I can have a clear half-half split.

Okay, so that’s a quick glimpse into my dream bedroom! I’m currently working on getting my real bedroom to something similar; for the first time in my entire life, I actually have a desk!

Fine, I’ve ordered a desk.

Fine, I’ve bookmarked a desk.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post; I’d love interior themed posts if that’s something you guys would be interested in? What are your dream bedrooms like? Do we share any of the same decoration styles? Let me know your thoughts down below!

Peace,

I love this, Mia!! I’m all for the bohemian and spiritual vibes! I would like a new desk chair and possibly a new desk since they are both really, really old. Will be great to see your new bedroom when it’s eventually done! 🙂 xx

    1. Thank you so much! And yes; that’s totally my design style 🙂 Oooh check out IKEA and IKEA hacks on Pinterest; you can buy/DIY some really cute things. And thank you! I actually just bought the desk as I start no-spend September so I had to slip it in under the radar xx

Okay, will do about the IKEA hacks 😉 Haha no-spend isn’t gonna happen for me anytime soon as I’m traveling in a few weeks, but maybe in October (ugh time going TOO fast).

I really like cork boards with a desk. And plants add a little more life in the room. But I’m not really a fan of the whole clutter thing because I’m a pretty messy potato but that’s a bit too messy for me Everyone has different preferences though. Looking forward to a room tour.

    1. Definitely – I’m a big desk space lover and plants have a great effect on a space 🙂 As for mess – fair enough! I’m really into it; I think I’d have a really spacious and minimal house but my bedroom would be a total clutter xD And thank you 🙂 x

“Some girls like flowers and chocolate – but I’m demanding AF and, while I want flowers and chocolate, I would also like a little desk space.” – that made me laugh out loud and I agree about Urban Outfitters, I have to ban myself from their website, stupid, expensive yet beautiful yet impractical cushions xx

    1. Why thank you THANK YOU! it’s like you KNOW you shouldn’t but you so desperately want toxx

Yep I would usually drool over my laptop but when that became too emotionally painful I had to just put a mental block on visiting the website at all xx

      2. I think that was wise of you, I need to practice that restraint – their site is risky business 🙁 xx

    1. That’s so weird – I did that too!I took the drawers out and awkwardly stuck my legs under it. And thank you 🙂 they’re admittedly great x

      1. haha, I don’t think I could do that with mine because of all the drawers have built in planks that kind of obstruct my path for my legs lol

    1. Thank you so much gorgeous girl! I hope my room ends up looking this nice!xx

    1. I’m the same! My rooms the loft so the amount of sunlight is really bad for growing flowers; artificial plants can be a great solution though 🙂 xx

  10. That first photo you included in your post got my daydreaming for ages….I love love love these kinds of rooms! I really want lots of plants in my room, but can’t seem to keep them alive hahahah how sad + good luck for your room, can’t wait to see how it turns out in your room tour post!
    Love, G – https://heartpeaches.wordpress.com

    1. Me too! Can you just imagine that kind of living space? Perfect for curling up and reading! I can imagine you’d be all kinds of inspired all the time…sigh. And I totally relate – artificial plants are always an option! Thank you lovely xx

What a lovely post, Mia! Loved each one of those styles. I have been in the midst of doing up our new home and was forever looking up inspirations on pinterest but at the end of it quite happy with the clutter we have managed to put into place 😉 Home should be an extension of your personality and I can see the bohemian vibe in yours without setting eyes on it. xx

    1. Thank you so so much! That sounds so exciting; I’m glad you’re happy with your new home; and yes – I knew I wasn’t the only one that loves her a little bit of clutter 😉 I think you’re definitely right; I’m a big boho girl at heart xxx

  15. I’ve always wanted a bunk bed situation like your feature photo! Or maybe something that hangs from the ceiling like hammock. Have you ever fallen asleep in a hammock? It’s amazing.

    1. Yep, thats my issue! I’m thinking artificial plants may be my next try and I love the boards xx

  17. My type of bedroom would be the office space one. It looks so minimalistic and I feel like I’d be super productive if ever my room looks like that. Hahaha

    1. Yes, I definitely agree with that! I think having an office in my room is definitely going to kick my ass into gear 🙂 xx

I’m moving into a new apartment once I’m back from travelling! (Although I haven’t found one yet, so it’s a figment of my imagination until I find one) But I think about furniture and interior decoration all the time, the tapestries, the plants, the random bits of artwork, the office space — it’s all so exciting!

    1. Ooooh I’m so excited for you – an entire apartment to design! Very fun! And just think of all the cool memories of your travels that you can decorate with!xx

OMG I used to want to be an interior designer when I was little and you’ve just opened up the magic of furnishings to me again 😉 I love your taste, it’s so refreshing compared to the everything-looks-the-same minimalism trend going on right now. And definitely confused about how your bedroom can be half on a stage…?

Love the office inspiration. Currently trying to figure out how to shoehorn a little office space into a neglected space on the top floor of our house…think the peg board could be a winner!

  21. Oh my gosh those cushions from urban outfitters are seriously the cutest thing ever but I yelled when I saw the price! Yikes! Plus love all the plant stuff! I love plants too, my only struggle is keeping them alive…..

ah I love this so much!! I am a sucker for anything boho and hippie esque i so wish I could grow plants in my room because I love the vibe they provide and the purified air, but my room is so dark (only one little window) it’s near impossible to keep just about anything alive :’) Anyways, lovely post girl
