Hey, you gorgeous souls – have I ever told that I’m about 68% sure that our family is descended from some kind of witches?

I’ve touched on it very lightly in my Hamilton West End Review, but my mother has a touch of magic in her, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind. She’s almost unbelievably lucky, she can quite literally manifest things that she wants – and she has some form of psychic ability. I’m not even joking, she has dreams of water and then people we know find out that they’re pregnant. This has happened enough times for us to find a link.

However, while I don’t necessarily think I’ve got as much of it as my mother, I definitely think I have that I have some of her magic in me. Case in point? Manifestations. You guys might remember my post about manifestations and how to use them to get everything you want out of life, but I didn’t end up posting about the aftermath.

And, my friends, there was an aftermath.

If you remember my exact wording, I manifested “fun, well paid blogging opportunities“. I kid you not, what email dropped into my inbox quite literally two days later? Take a look for yourself.

I applied for this platform that connects writers with companies literally months ago. It was a one-off, might-as-well, didn’t-think-anything-would-come-of-it application that I completely forgot about . . . and a few days after I sat down to do manifestations, this email dropped into my inbox.

Did I get the role? Probably not, but it doesn’t really matter.

Getting this email made me actually look into freelance writing. Which I hadn’t even considered. (My application to the above site was a one off “might as well” as I browsed content marketing jobs on Indeed one night.) As I mentioned in my post about manifestations, I don’t expect them to be hand-wrapped packages with what I’ve asked for dropped on my doorstep – sometimes they’re just guidance. Sometimes it’s like someone dropping a map in your lap and saying “hey, why not try going this way?”.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Mia, this is great for you and all . . . but what does this have to do with a DIY?”. Well, my friends, today we are creating our very own DIY spell book/manifestation book. That’s whole intro was just me sharing the why – and why I seriously think you should create one of your own!

(Oh – we’re also creating this DIY because Killstar didn’t actually refund me, they sent me a gift voucher for the amount I spent in the haul that I ended up returning, so I had to buy this spell book and a cauldron mug. Isn’t it beautiful, though?)

Before we get into this, stop and read Brooke’s post on DIY Wish Books. (It’s, of course, linked.) I remember reading this back in March and thinking “how beautiful, I absolutely need to create one of these”, so this post is literally just my version of her DIY. Check out the original, it’s absolutely beautiful and Brooke is the aesthetic queen, so I know you guys will fall in love.

You Will Need

Supplies for making your spell book pretty. Honestly, this part is up to you! I like to use stickers, pens, washi tape and Pinterest print-outs . . . but it’s your book, so use whatever things you want! (You need a journal though.)
A book to use as a base. If you’re going full witch-power, I do actually really recommend Killstar’s journals. They’re unbelievably cute and . . . the vibes!

What You Need To Do

Much like with manifestations, it’s about putting your intentions onto the page. Give each page a purpose – a spell, if you will – and make sure whatever you’re putting onto the page represents that. This is a completely unique process, kids, just do what feels best to you! For me, I like to create collages with images to represent what I want and write a few words and sentences down. It’s more about focusing my energy and thinking about what I want as I put things on the page, instead of what is actually on the page.
