Hello, beautiful people – before we even get into the makeup tutorial (yep, just go with it), I’m going to answer the big question you didn’t even know you had.
Where is this dress from? Well, my friends, you are looking at a beautiful creation from the British brand Hope and Ivy, who are ironically named because just as I had hope for my bank account I found them. Okay moving onto the topic of the post:
What. Is. Going. The. Fuck. On?
Is this real? Am I . . . Am I doing a makeup tutorial?
Guys, I don’t know how – or, to be honest, why we got here, but I think I’m sharing a makeup tutorial with you. Are you ready? Okay, babies hold on to your seats . . . Let’s do this!
If you’re familiar round these parts, you will already know that I am no makeup expert. In fact, I am a minus expert. Aside from my eyeliner and brows, I’m not great at much about makeup and most of the time I can’t be bothered to experiment because it goes terribly and means I then need to waste time re-doing my makeup. I mean, we all remember the mess that was my attempted fairy makeup look.
And if you don’t, I’ll embarass myself with a photo. Here you go.
However, I do have a few go to tricks (and by that I mean eyeshadow and a somewhat nude lip) that I go to when I want to look nice (which is always when I’m not at work. I like to look nice, sue me) – and today I thought . . . well, why not share what my go-to summer makeup is?
(And before you ask, yes it is pretty much the same as the fairy look, minus the pink eyeliner and plus the orange eyeshadow.)
That’s the look we’re going to be creating!
The palette I used was literally £4 and you can pick it up from Superdrug or get it delivered straight to your house because who really wants to go hunting around a packed Superdrug store only to find your product sold out anyway?
MUA Vixen Eyeshadow Palette – £4
Now, you will have to bear with the fact that this “tutorial” bit will be literal trash. Because I really don’t know what you thought you were getting from this post, to be honest.
Step 1
Grab your naked eyelid and cover it with this probably not base colour appropriate shade. It has glitter, hence why I was drawn to it.
Step 2
Do your eye corners or whatever in this slightly darker glitter colour. Can you sense a trend?
Now is probably where I should apologise for the photos, but let’s face it – not even I thought I was ever going to upload this as a tutorial. I just shockingly got up on time and had loads of spare time before needing to leave and so thought “well, it might turn out alright so why not take some photos?”.
I know, I know – nothing but the best quality content for you guys, right?
Step 3
Step 3 is what I like to just call orange. I love orange; actually, I love pretty much any warmer toned colour.
I just kind of sweep orange along the top and hope for the best.
Step 4
Brush pink in a thin line along your undereye. Simples.
Step 5
Eyeliner, duh!
Step 6
Mascara, foundation and blush! Normally, I would skip on the foundation (your girl is quite literally always looking to get a tan) but my skin basically died last month and, while it is recovering very well . . . it is still in recovery mode. Coverage is a yes please.
Did I take photos of the finished look? No, not of the makeup especially. I’m awful at selfies, I don’t really have any and the full photos I took were more meant to be OOTD. And even they all failed because the camera wasn’t zoomed out enough . . . so here we are. Left with a subpar makeup tutorial. This is the content you signed up for.
I also have a Snapchat selfie from like 8 hours later to offer you?
As you can tell, I am a. British and b. talking to one of my friends. And no, this photo isn’t relevant to anything about this post, but I think it’s my favourite photo of 2018 and I wanted to share it.
Guys, this is one of those times where I have no idea what to sign off with. I hope this was helpful? How could it be? We’ll go with I hope you were mildly entertained. Did you like this look? Would you try it? And what do you think about le dress? Let me know your thoughts down below!
Peace,

We will talk about this.
Actually… in reality, my new friend is the owner of a comic book store. I feel like Corey Haim meeting the Frog brothers. Anyway I thought he was a weak cunt so I asked if he was Italian background. He said no Maltese.
Thank Christ for that I said.
I thought of you being Maltese and all. The two of you should have a knife fight.
Fly my pretties 😎😎
Aha, but I’m not Maltese!
Oops🤔
Beautiful summer dress! And orange on eyes is everything <3
Thanks girly! And I definitely agree with you <3
Reblogged this on LIFE STORY'S FROM LINCOLN.
Thanks for the reblog 🙂
great post, well written
I love the cheaper Superdrug and Boots palettes because they are normally quite pigmented and just as good as some of the higher level brands. I think the tutorial turned out really well and I love the dress. xx
Same here girl! I’m not massively into makeup, so spending big bucks on a palette isn’t really worthwhile for me plus the cheap ones work great. Thank you! 🙂 xx
Love the make up look!!! 😀 Can’t believe that beautiful palette is just £4. Also, the dress looks great on you xx
Thank you so much lovely! And I KNOW, IT’S SUCH GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY and it’s actually pigmented! xx
I love your makeup look & your dress! 😍
Thank you lovely! x
Such a lovely look, it suits you really nicely. xx
Thank you so much lovely! xx
Hah you are too funny! I love the tutorial and your fairy persona. I am so bad with eye make-up. Maybe I should take a few tips and up the game. I mean who would mind looking being all fairy airy? xx
Thank you lovely lady! And aha honestly I think eye makeup (aside from eyeliner because thats like playing operation but on your face with how delicate and precise it is) is pretty easy to do passably well so definitely a good place to start xx
Delicate! 🙂 I might go in a corner and cry. I will have to get you a big stash of Lindt. The other day we ended up at the store in the city and came back with a large bag. It was demolished in 4 days straight. The winner was a mango truffle which burst in the mouth with the delectable flavour of an alphonso. xx
Yeah, another makeup tutorial – you GOOOO girl!! Am literally all about a bronzy look, so this post is like ma’ thang’ <3 You're so gorgeous – as always! <3 xxx
Thank you so much lovely lady! I’m so glad you enjoyed 🙂 <3 xxx
You’re writing always makes me laugh. Be my friend? .. too needy.. never mind 🙄
Ahaha thank you! And pls, not needy – confident! Plus, of course – you don’t even have to ask 😉
That palette looks gorgeous as are you!!! Definitely going to see if I can try and recreate something like this!! Pinks and oranges are always my favorite for this time of year. Also, your “attempted fairy makeup look” is actually so cute and I love it so much! xx
Thank you so much lovely girl! And I definitely agree with you – pink and orange are the colours of summer! Awwww thank you! You should check out Joy’s look, it turned out really well 🙂 xx
Girl, as much as I love this makeup, as much as I love you in this dress, my favourite part of this entire post is that final photo haahaaha xx
Ahahaha I can completely agree with you on that… I just wanted an excuse to share the photo with the internet tbh xD xx
The makeup looks great !!!
And I love the dress 💚❤
Thank you so much lovely! <3
Loving this dress! Honestly, I loved the tutorial. Accurate portrayal of how to style makeup. Orange, a lil pink, a lil gold, a lil brown, (got some glitter? well, add some glitter), a liner, a LOOK.
You are so fabulous!

Beautiful look! The eye shadow colours – pinky/orangy whatever, really suit you and are my favourite for summer. Equally, gorgeous dress and photo of you! xx
